Charles “Chick” Duncan was born in 1925 and raised in Jasper Alberta. After serving in the Royal Canadian Navy he attended the University of British Columbia. In 1959 he became a Golf Professional in Edmonton, Alberta, but moved to Winnipeg in 1960 to become the Head Golf Pro at Niakwa Country Club. Chick remained at Niakwa until his retirement in 1990. Over the course of his career, Chick served, not only the members of the Niakwa Golf and Country Club, but the entire Manitoba Golf community by sitting on the Manitoba PGA Board for several years. Chick was always willing to share his knowledge and his love of the game but was particularly passionate about teaching children with disabilities to develop their skills and share his enthusiasm for golf. The Chick Duncan Award was initiated in 2005 to recognize Chick’s contribution and dedication to the membership of Niakwa Country Club. This award of $1,000.00 is presented each year to a Junior, Student or Intermediate member who demonstrates; *Strong academic ability, *Positive conduct and attitude, *Significant service to Niakwa, school or community activities, *Participation in and promotion of Niakwa events; and *Individual golf achievement and ability. All Junior, Student, and Intermediate Members, entering the 2023 Golf season are asked to submit a letter of intent. In this letter, you should aim to demonstrate evidence of the skills and qualities specified in the above criteria as well as your reflection on being a member at Niakwa. Please include a curriculum vitae with this letter.
