As we return to normal operations following the Canadian Senior Championship there are a lot of items in need of attention. The rough was not maintained for the 10 days around the event. Our rough is very long and dense. This will take time to mow and clean as it will be a messy process. We have some irrigation leaks that are waiting for repairs including areas on 10 fairway, 11 fairway and the rough on hole 8.
This week is an important one for product application as we need to protect the greens and set the stage for aeration following member closing on the weekend ahead. Weather dependent this application will require 9-12 minutes of water following. If we receive a lot of rainfall this application will add to already soft greens but it is critical ahead of aeration. Fairway aeration has begun and will continue until the process is complete.
With the arrival of mid-September the Turfcare team is now greatly reduced with staff returning to studies. We have a significant amount of work ahead and priorities will shift from day to day. We can expect a reduction in mowing and rolling practices on greens, as well as a reduction in mowing of tees, fairways and approaches. Bunker raking will be limited so it is your responsibility as a member to rake bunkers once you play in them. It is the time of year when frosts will begin within the next couple weeks. We will begin to experience leaf drop from trees creating challenges in keeping all playing surfaces tidy. Detail management will become difficult with the reduction in staff and focus on keeping surfaces free of leaves.
