Yet another maintenance day this past Monday was impacted by rainy weather. This prevented the turfcare team again from completing a light topdressing program to greens. This season we have only made 5 light topdressing applications to greens and we have experienced 12 maintenance Monday’s that have not cooperated for course care in particular greens agronomic programs. As we are working to the set the stage for the Canadian Senior Championship these variables have certainly not been ideal. We have one Monday remaining ahead of the event to hopefully provide the Turfcare team with the time and window required to make this application. The forecast right now for the Monday ahead is not ideal calling for additional rainfall. To ensure the success of the event and in the event we lose another Monday ahead we will look to make the light topdressing application during play on Tuesday if required. This will be based on not only the rainfall Monday but how much rainfall we receive. In order to keep the sand in place once applied morning water applications to greens is required ahead of mowing. If we receive too much rainfall and greens are soft this program will need to be bypassed and we will rely on rolling to have greens as true as possible.
Some cart path work has begun this week. The goal is to target the worst sections of path that are utilized by members. Most of this work required is on the front nine. We will continue to work on these paths until Friday September 4th and get as far as possible in that time.
