The Turfcare team had a successful week completing many fall cultural practices. Read More>>
On Monday the team completed a solid tine aeration on all
greens and tee boxes. Fairway aeration
began as well on Monday and as of today we have 3 holes remaining to
complete. We will look to get these
holes completed in the week ahead. On
aeration day we were also able to complete a full spray program on all fairways
and tee boxes. This spray application
contained herbicide to knock back the weeds that had established through the
season of drought. We would like to
thank the membership for providing the Turfcare team the day to complete these
necessary items in an efficient matter.
A lot was accomplished over the course of the day which will assist in
setting the stage for winter and next golf season.
Ball roll on greens should start to slow up in the week ahead. The warm and dry fall weather has allowed the greens to hold their texture and in return provide very acceptable ball roll for the fall. With the warm forecast for the week ahead we will need to apply more water which will initiate some growth. We will continue to roll daily to provide the best experience possible while we protect and ready the surfaces for the winter ahead.
The battle of the leaves has finally begun. We are utilizing all blowers and mowers to
clear and mulch the property daily. You
will see the blowers and mowers out on course throughout your game working on
this fall detail. Hopefully the leaves
will fall quickly so we can clean the course and provide a better experience for
the remainder of the season. Please acknowledge
and be mindful that the blowers and mowers are loud so Turfcare team members
may not hear you while playing the game of golf. Do your best to ensure the safety of the team
by getting their attention ahead of hitting in their direction.
9 green construction is well on the way. The team from Goodwin Golf should have
drainage install completed by the end of the weekend. Early next week they will begin to push in
the new greens mix, install irrigation and be on to finish grade and works by
the end of the week. If all goes well we
will begin the 3 remaining greens simultaneously on October 1. Once we begin the final 3 greens for the last
10 days of the golf season members will have pins placed in fairways to hit to
for the game of golf.
A reminder that while the weather may still be great the property
and turf have greatly slowed down in growth.
This means that all wear the course receives moving forward this fall
will have difficulties recovering ahead of winter. Please ensure you are repairing all ball
marks on greens to aid in greens health ahead of winter.
We look forward to testing all members who are participating
in the annual Bionic Woman and Ironman competition this weekend. Have fun and enjoy some challenging pin
locations throughout the course.
